The erection that followed put a strain on the buttons of his jeans.

All of a sudden she stopped and said, “What time is it?” Looking at her watch a look of panic crossed her face. “Oh my God, it is late, we really have to go right now,”

She started the car and Doug wondered how long it would take for the bulge in his pants to disappear.

  CHAPTER FOUR

Olivia agreed to meet Doug the following day and have lunch with him. Things needed discussing, such as how often she could get away and when and where they would meet.

Olivia said there would be plenty of time , their first priority must be the show. Afterwards, they had the whole summer, they had forever.

Quite soon it became apparent to all, that there was something going on between Doug and Olivia.

During rehearsals Doug watched Olivia, the feelings in his eyes could not be masked.

The girls would come across them huddled together in corners whispering.

Doug felt that he was having the time of his life until one night in the club when he really did have the time of his life.

Doug left Chris in charge one evening whilst they were going through the routines and to the sound of 'One night in Bangkok'. Olivia and Doug left the dance floor and ran upstairs to the drinks lounge.

Tables in dimly lit alcoves were cluttered with dirty glasses. Lights of blue and purple shone down the walls giving the room a mystical feel.

Olivia and Doug came together, their lips meeting in a frenzy. They did not have long as they did not know when someone might come or need them back downstairs. They forgot where they were and abandoned fear, to be in the moment.

Doug was quick to find his way round Olivia and into her clothes. His hand deftly moved inside her bra, gently squeezing her left breast, rolling her nipple between his fingers.

Olivia moaned as an acknowledgement of the pleasure she felt at his touch. Slowly his other hand crept across her belly and down into her knickers, the soft hairs under his fingers between her legs were enticing and he worried that he might explode too soon.

Doug began to rub her clitoris, he felt the blood rush as it began to swell beneath his fingers.

Doug removed his hands and took hold of Olivia's shoulders, his eyes never leaving her face as he pushed her slowly down onto the table behind them.

They were oblivious to the crashing glasses as they fell off the table making room for what was to happen next.

Olivia's legs opened allowing him free access to the inviting gap which widened to his touch.

The warmth of her vagina surrounded his fingers as he gently pushed two inside her, lubricating the place where he hoped he would soon be placing his manhood. Olivia undid the buttons on Doug's jeans and quickly pulled them down.

His erection burst forth as though mounted on a spring. Doug loved the way her hand slid down his shaft to play with his testicles.

They were like putty in her hands, sacks of fluid that danced about between her fingers.

Olivia moved closer to the edge of the table while Doug slid her knickers off and put them in his pocket.

They looked at each other for a moment that seemed like forever. Olivia's eyes were like shining stars in a dark sky. Her face covered by yearning and passion. There was little time to be had and at any time someone might enter the room.

Doug entered Olivia. He held her ankles and legs high in the air as he thrust with such force, she gasped.

He quickly built up a rhythm and was at her with such speed, pushing deeper and deeper to the tune of his passion.

He knew she was enjoying it as she too was playing the same tune, moving in rhythm, raising her hips to meet him.

Her dampness turned to a river of wet and he felt a slow trickle as she moaned for more.

This was pure, 'I love it' juice.

Doug pulled out and rolled Olivia over onto her belly, with her legs supporting her on the floor. Doug swiftly took her from behind, he pushed and pushed.

He held her by her shoulders and rode her with a fervour so strong, that all sense and reason were left behind as he felt the tingling that signalled the onset of his orgasm.

One almighty thrust that nearly sent Olivia across the table and prompted an, “OH my God!” from her, was the beginning of the end, the ferocity of the storm surprising them.

This was not love making this was primal sex of the best kind.

Unadulterated lust!. Doug straightened himself up and handed Olivia her knickers which she put on, not before stumbling as her foot caught in them.

Soon they were both laughing at their naughtiness, like small misbehaving children, they returned to the dance floor and the rehearsal.

Doug and Olivia spent the rest of the evening winking at each other, believing no one could see them.

Yes, that was truly a night to remember, having sex on a table, frontwards and backwards in that posh club in Leeds.

  CHAPTER FIVE

Doug turned to look at the man sitting at his side. He looked about the same age or he might have been a bit older.

Doug wondered why the man was going to New York.

Usually he would strike up a conversation with fellow travellers, but not today.

This day was filled with trepidation; there was a feeling in the air; a feeling Doug could not put his finger on. It was very unsettling.

The man next to Doug had his eyes closed, head phones crowning his baldness. He was tapping his fingers on his knees as he listened to music.

Doug loved people but his passion was music. He wondered what the man was listening to.

Music and songs were milestones in his life, they took him back in time. They brought memories.

He had quite a few 'Olivia' tunes, as she too, was passionate about music.

A certain song would bring her to mind and the pictures of their past.

Down the passing years Olivia became a small figurine on the horizon of his past. He often wondered what she was doing, what became of her.

Doug looked out of the window, over the clouds towards the bright sunlight, bringing to mind the songs of his history that were stored in his archives.

Doug and Olivia had another success in Leeds. The night was phenomenal. Olivia was dressed immaculately.

She was a master of change as one minute she was like a little girl, in baggy clothes and the next a sexy siren in a tight dress, fish nets and sling back sandals. Her hair framed her face giving her a confusing sexy, innocent look.

It did not matter what colour lipstick she wore, her lips always looked inviting.

Doug now knew what was under the dress and it took great willpower to resist the curves that were her body.

He looked across the floor, just before the girls came on to do their first set. Doug's eyes met Olivia's and the room disappeared, as Human League began to drown out the chatter with 'Together in Electric Dreams'.

Doug felt the words, 'We'll always be together, together in electric dreams' as he stared at the vision that he knew he would be holding in his arms later that night. . He was looking at Olivia in a gold sequinned dress, standing in a beam of light that was shining down on her.

Never was there a moment so perfect as they gazed at one another and smiled the knowing smile of secrets and love.

Doug got more than a little bit drunk that night as his ego rode on a giant wave of yet another success.

On the way home he didn't take much notice of where Olivia was driving. He was too busy talking about whatever came into his head, the ramblings of a drunk cannot always be understood.

He knew it was very late and neither of them cared.

Since the affair began Olivia became more adventurous and less cautious.

Olivia believed that you had to live for today, the rest did not exist. Yesterday was gone; tomorrow forever coming but never quite arriving.

Tomorrow was elusive as it just changed into today.

When Olivia stopped the car Doug saw that they were in
a wood.

Olivia pushed her seat forward and got into the back.

Doug followed. He wished that he was not so drunk now as he knew that what they were about to do next would be a blur tomorrow.

They were at each other like sumo wrestlers, pushing and pulling to get to the delights hidden beneath their clothes. It didn't quite work out as it should have, as Doug suddenly felt his salivary glands begin to work overtime.

He opened the car door and got out quickly, if he was going to be sick , best to do it out of the car.

Doug forgot that his trousers were round his ankles and he took off, sprawling onto the muddy ground before him.

Olivia did not see what happened as she was getting out of her side of the car.

  She missed the show.

As she tentatively picked her way round the back of the car she saw Doug flat on his face in a mound of dirt and dead leaves.

Olivia bent down to help Doug up and as Doug began to rise so did the contents in his stomach.

They were better out than in and spewed forth like a pyloric missile. “How dreadful!” Olivia said, “Are you OK?”

Doug looked at her, his dark eyebrows meeting in the middle of a frown.

  “I don't know”, he replied.

He looked like a little boy who lost a shilling and found a penny.

He could not have looked more ridiculous, with twigs sticking out of his hair and his white legs shining in the moonlight as his trousers rested on the tops of his, now, muddy shoes.

Olivia turned away. Doug knew she was laughing, her shoulders gave her away.

He quickly tidied himself and looked at his watch.

It was four in the morning and they really had to go home.

As they got into the car Olivia began to giggle, she could not help herself and she laughed out loud.

Doug felt crap. He soon forgot what had transpired as a song came on to the radio that was the finale of the night, it was, 'Together in Electric Dreams'.

Olivia and Doug soon settled into a routine. Olivia always parked her car in front of the hotel behind Doug's office.

Some mornings Doug would see her as he walked into work with Gerry.

He would catch Olivia watching them as she put her money into the ticket machine. Thank goodness this did not happen every day but when it did he would panic. He was afraid that she would come across and speak.

One thing Doug was learning about Olivia was that she liked to live dangerously. Her spontaneity meant that she threw caution to the wind and he could never be sure what she might do next.

When Olivia left work in the afternoon, Doug would sneak ten minutes with her in the car park.

They were very civilised and managed to control the urges that ran rampant through their veins, as they told each other what they were doing, discussed the family and when they would meet.

They would sheepishly grin at each other as he watched her drive away.

Olivia had a good friend, Susan, who began to lend them her cottage on Wednesdays.

That's what friends are for; not to judge; to be of help; to be there, without saying a word when things went wrong.

Nothing was going wrong for Olivia and Doug.

It was wonderful to be able to sit on a sofa together, to make love in a bed with clean sheets instead of the back seat of the cramped love machine.

As they talked together they learnt more about each other. Loved each other more and more.

They would snuggle up on Susan's sofa and listen to records.

They would play their favourites to each other and sometimes sing together.

Olivia was quite surprised when Doug became very sentimental over two songs. He turned to look at her as the needle dropped on 'When Love Breaks Down' by Prefab Sprout.

Doug sat down beside her and held her in his arms. As the opening words ran round the room, 'My love and I we work well together, but often we're apart'.

Doug pulled Olivia close and rested his face in her freshly washed hair rinsed in lavender.

He knew this would be one of the moments never to be forgotten.

They would drink coffee and feed each other chocolates on those Wednesday nights that were their little piece of heaven.

Olivia always brought food with her, she loved to feed him.

Their music nights were full of bliss and after clearing away the cups and tidying the kitchen, Doug pleaded with Olivia. “Just one more song, please?”

Olivia could not resist those brown eyes, she never said no to Doug, as he went on to say, “It's important and we can be a bit late tonight, can't we?”

He went across to the player and found the record he wanted. Doug looked across at Olivia as Sad Cafe began, 'Everyday Hurts'.

Their gaze held as the messages of love, sadness and pain passed between them. The words of the song touching their hearts, “ Every single day that I'm without you hurts just a little bit more than I've ever been hurt before”.

Without speaking they both acknowledged that one day this would all end.

For the time being it was their escape from things that were difficult in their lives, as they were both meeting a deep need that neither could understand.

That night they left Susan's on a sombre note.

Olivia replaced the door key under a stone, that Susan would retrieve on her return. When it was Susan's birthday Olivia and Doug bought her a book to thank her for supporting them. It was 'Jonathan Livingston Seagull' by Richard Bach and Olivia thought that everyone should have a copy on their book shelf.

Susan became a good friend and Olivia and Doug spent many nights in the love cottage on the edge of the moors.

Thinking about Olivia's recklessness Doug remembered that one Sunday afternoon on the way to a rehearsal in Leeds they stopped and called in at a garden party.

Olivia failed to tell Doug that her mother and ex mother in law would be attending. Susan's friend was holding the event for the charity that Olivia was head of. Susan was the treasurer and they made a good team.

It was a glorious sunny day and Doug looked immaculate as ever in beige slacks, pale blue shirt and navy blazer.

Olivia looked like a little girl in her pink and yellow sun dress.

As they came through the gate of the garden she grabbed his hand and dragged him to the tea tent.

They sat down at a small wooden table, when two ladies joined them.

Olivia introduced Doug to her mother, who looked him up and down before saying, ”Hello, I saw you at the last fashion show, it was very good, my daughter is good at what she does don't you think?”

Doug smiled, feeling very uncomfortable, little did he know it was about to get much worse as the ex mother in law began to ask prying questions.

He wondered if she was a news reporter in her spare time. Doris was like a dog with a bone and she was not going to give up with her questions.

She certainly put him on the spot with her observations, “You two do seem to spend a lot of time together Olivia is hardly ever home these days.”

Olivia laughed and said, "You know how much this charity means to me and the amount of people it helps, there is so much to do and I do it.”

The two women rose and said their goodbyes. Olivia's mother kissed Doug on the cheek, she liked him.

Doris gave a pert ,”Goodbye,” followed by a look that told him she knew what they were up to.

When they sat in the car Doug asked Olivia why they had gone there. She looked at him with that wicked cynical grin that would light up her face. “It was time for you to meet them,” she replied.

Did she know what a dangerous game she was playing?

A few weeks later Olivia mentioned the garden party to him.

She said her mother never said a word but Doris had plenty to say.

Doris rang Olivia and told her that she knew what was going on, it was obvious and probably other people saw the connection between them in the garden. She said they could perhaps have been more discree
t and not parade about like two juvenile peacocks.

Doug asked Olivia what she said to that. Olivia opened her eyes wide, smiling she whispered, “I lied”.

Doug didn't often daydream, but one day while he was having some 'me' time at his boat he began to think about his relationship with Olivia and as one thought led to another he found himself thinking about the meaning of love.

He had always been interested in the word, love.

He looked for it, chased it, read about it, researched it, never believed that he felt it, until he met Olivia.

There were countless films and books written about it.

There was all kinds of love, sexual love, family love, love of pets, love of money, love of material things and spiritual love.

Many times had he heard and read, “I am not in love with you but I do love you”. What did that mean, being 'in' love and just loving?

Loving was for the material, possessions and pets, family, work, what a person does.

You can not be in love with those.

So does that mean that 'being in love' was about romance and passion for someone with whom you had a sexual bond and relationship?

With that type of love there was a downside. There was jealousy, obsession, infatuation, ownership.

Doug was fascinated by the love of two people and all that it entailed. He read books and listened to music about it.

If there was an exam on love, Doug would surely pass it, he knew so much about it but wasn't sure if he could do it.

As he stopped polishing the boat his eyes rested on a passing bird and he felt a rush of feeling rising from his toes as he remembered Olivia.

She loved birds, in fact she loved all animals. The nearest he believed he had ever been to love was now. He loved 'brown eyes'; his pet name for Olivia.

Those eyes were the most beautiful he had ever looked into. They were pools of desire that spoke to him, saying, “I want you.”

Love could be blind, unconditional and without reason.

People say things like, “ I don't know why I love her but I do”.

  It cannot be controlled.

The physical side of love perhaps was controlled by oestrogen and testosterone levels in the body.
